Silostop Cover Weights

Silostop technology incorporates gravel filled sacks as an alternative to tyres, which have traditionally, though often inefficiently, weighed down silage covers

These "sausage-like' sacks contain 15kg of 10mm "pea gravel" and when placed end to end in a 2m to 3m grid pattern they provide a strong and effective seal which prevents oxygen movement under the silage film.

Benefits

• Less labour and less weights are required to secure the film;
• Significantly less damage to the cover compared to throwing tyres;
• Gravel sacks are safer and easier to store;
• Importantly, gravel sacks provide a better seal as they mold to "fit" the contours of the silage surface, or snuggly along pit walls;
• From an environmental view point, gravel sacks are safer and sustainable.
