Sealing Systems - Silostop
Silostop is a proven silage covering system. Using polyamide film it creates an oxygen barrier which is up to 20 times more effective than conventional black/while polyethylene film.
The impact is felt directly on your bottom line as it significantly reduces the level of aerobic spoilage in the top layers of stored silage, resulting in less dry matter loss with the flow on effect of increased rumen health due to the improved quality of stored silage.
Silostop - a practical solution
- Oxygen barrier (OB) film
- Co-extruded film
- Gravel filled sacks
- Protective UV-stable mat covers
Choose from either of these application options
Silostop 1 Step
Silostop involves covering the silage surface with a co-extruded plastic film, meaning the OB film is incorporated into the conventional UV-stabilised black/white plastic as one sheet.
This is then weighed down and sealed using either gravel sacks (suggest a 2-3m grid pattern) or tyres.
Silostop 2 Step
Silostop 2 Step involves using the 45um OB film and overlaying it with UV-stable mat covers using gravel sacks or tyres to hold securely in place.
Covering options include:
- Conventional co-extruded black/white silage film; and
- UV-stable woven mat covers or tarp that is 100% shade rated Both Silostop and Silostop Gold options may be secured with UV-stable woven mat covers to provide additional protection. These covers are reuseable and offer superior protection to the OB film. Naturally, covering the film with UV-stable mat covers provides greater surface protection, particularly from the effects of tyre throwing, hail, birds and animals.
